A client in the fuel delivery and fuel system maintenance industry approached us for a way to streamline their business functionality and to upgrade their network. They were running a multisite business through five different out-of-the-box systems with no integration to the main accounting and resource management system.
The manual process of consolidating the data from all the sites into the main accounting system called for two part-time data entry interns. Yet another application performed delivery and routing without being integrated with any other app. Their manual overhead and need for multiple oversights was raising their personnel overhead and hurting the bottom line.
Our application developers visited every site and sat with every user to find out what each worker did throughout the day. This discovery process allowed our developers to figure out how a single integrated system could create greater efficiency.
Once the workflow and data flow of the company was mapped out, our developers created a full custom ERP system that runs on a .NET browser-based front end with a custom SQL back end database. The ERP system was built to utilize the available APIs in their accounting system and replaced their resource management system. Using google maps API, the routing system was also replaced with a internal module to the ERP system. Through the reduced manual process, the new ERP system enabled our client to reduce their error rate by over 80%; personnel overhead by almost 35% in the head office; and by almost 18% in each branch location.
"We used to flip around between multiple screens just to get a delivery booked, assigned and fuel allocated. We then had to put the same information into fuel tracker and again into routing. Now, we enter the information once, and it goes everywhere it needs to. Imagine how much time is saved when every agent is doing ~15 bookings a day. Our custom application is my new 'best thing since sliced bread.'"
